Winter and Christmas news

Just a couple of articles to keep you up to date with what has been going on at the academy over the past couple of months and indeed in the coming Christmas period. Business has been manic over the Autumn, so many thanks for all you mad keen golfers who continue to support us so loyally. Also a big thank you for all the recommendations you send us. We never have to advertise in local papers etc, due to you all passing the word about what we do here at the academy. All these recommendations really are appreciated and make all the hard work worth while, so on behalf of all the guys thanks again and keep spreading the word!!

Christmas Lesson Vouchers –

Yes it’s that time of year again!

Vouchers are now available from the academy and golf shop, either give us a call on 020 83919038 and we can send you a voucher in the post or pop into the shop and see a member of staff. Vouchers can be purchased from as little as £21, so call now and book a friend, family member or colleague a fantastic and unique present this Christmas. It’s way more interesting that the normal CD or pair of socks!!

MJGA moves into the City of London –

We have just started a new and very exciting project that is being run from Tower 42 right in the heart of the City Of London. London office workers who are tied to their desks can now escape for a quick golf lesson at the innovative City Golf Programme.

Mark Janes Golf Academy has forged a partnership with Back In Action Physiotherapy. Our expertise in golf instruction give the pupil the ideal information for improving their golf mechanics, receiving a copy of the lesson on a personalised CD and receiving further instruction to help improve their game.

The physios at Back In Action give you the musclular detail, that helps you to increase your consistency and avoid injury in the process, using warm up routines, muscle loosening techniques and physio when needed. Take it from me these guys are first class at their job and if you have any aches and pains then give Dan Franklin a call.

Please visit their web page for more information www.backinactionphysio.co.uk or www.tower42.com

Mark attends NLP course in Manchester –

I am away for six days from the 23rd November to attend the NLP course run by Dr Karl Morris. Karl holds a PDH in Psychology, is a Qualified PGA Golf Professional and is a NLP Master Trainer. I will explain more about NLP on my return, but it is a field of the business that I find fascinating and am keen to explore in greater depth. In brief it’s a way of studying how people excel in any given field and teaching these patterns to others.

Teaching Conference
Munich, Germany October 2005

Tom and I attended the European Teaching conference in early October, along with a staggering 1000 other enthusiastic golf professionals. Some of the pro’s came from as far as Brazil, Russia and Australia, 32 countries were represented in all.

We were given presentations from the likes of Hank Haney (Tiger’s coach), Randy Smith from the USA, Denis Pugh (Monty’s coach) and Beverly Lewis (Captain of GB and Ireland).
No matter how many times you attend such events, you always pick up some fantastic pointers. This time was no exception and the level of professionalism and quality of presentations were first class. Over the coming months I will try to outline some of the key points from the above speakers in my news articles.

I really believe this kind of development is vital no matter how much experience you think you have has a coach. Look at the best people in any field of business; they are the ones who spend that extra time learning and developing their skills throughout their entire career. Any golf instructor who stops developing their skills and sits back is just not doing their students justice.

 Summer News -

With the season well under way, I am pleased to say business just keeps on building and we are currently busier than ever, thanks to all your loyal support. With the holiday season now upon us, we normally see large number of clients go on holiday and business can quieten a little, it certainly hasn’t this year and the diary is choker, which is a testament to our growing number of new clients. As always if you are struggling to get the space in the diary you require or need a quick check before a tournament then please email mark@markjanes.com and I will endeavour to accommodate you.

What an Open Championship it was this year at St.Andrews, with Tiger taming the field and the brilliant Jack Nicklaus retiring from competitive golf, an Open to remember that’s for sure. I would like to remind a few of our regulars that I did predict a Tiger victory by a minimum of five strokes, so any big winners at the bookies then mines a pint!! We won’t mention my each way tip of Lee Westwood, who promptly double bogeyed the very first hole of the tournament and the missed the cut comfortably, sorry about that folks!! It was an amazing moment when Big Jack walked down the 18th Hole for the last time and stopped on the Swilken Bridge, great of him to get his playing partners up for the pictures, a moment Luke Donald will certainly not forget.

1st April 2005

Autumn Conference

We will all be attending the Teaching Conference in Germany at the end of September. This will be a three day conference that I believe is a must for any instructors as there will be some of the finest coaches in the world speaking. These include David Leadbetter, Hank Haney (Tiger’s coach), Randy Smith and Dr Ralph Mann. Not just the latest swing thoughts will be discussed but all elements of the game including equipment development and sports psychology.

So in advance no lessons will be available from 29th September to 1st October, I am really sorry about that but I am totally committed to the development of the academy and it’s instructors and this kind of experience is key. We will let you know in future news articles of the feedback from our trip.
