Well done to Glynis Cook from Cuddington GC for getting your handicap cut by another two shots, now down to 21. Keep the good work up and look forward to helping you break the 20 mark very soon! ----------------------------------------------------- Many, many congratulations to Linda Anderson on winning the Scratch Plate at Malden GC. Nerves of steal as she holed out for par at the last to sneak the victory. Linda then followed this up with a net 66 on day 1 and 72 net on day 2 in the Sayer Cup, finishing 2nd overall. Good news for everyone else is the handicap is now down to 17, truly a great year on the fairways. ------------------------------------------------------ Congratulations Mike Langley from Malden GC on returning two superb rounds since the last lesson we had together. 41 points helped reduce the handicap by 2, then followed up by a cheeky 38 points off the new handicap, good work Sir! -------------------------------------------------------- Well done Nic Myatt for winning his last society meeting with a huge 41 points off 14 handicap, tremendous effort. Single figures here we come, just think what we can do when that driver really starts to work? --------------------------------------------------------- Once again Bruce Maskell is in the headlines! Following on from his victory below he won the anual Ireland golf week, but not before cleaning up with JJ Stephenson to win the Bognor Invitation Meeting. That trophy cabinet must be starting to groan with all these trophies! Trouble is I don't think either win made any difference to the handicap! ---------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations to Bruce Maskell of Surbiton GC, for winning the August Monthly Medal! A great performance playing 4 below handicap and another reduction brings Bruce down to 14 handicap, well played Sir!! Keep the good work up and look forward to the next reduction. ----------------------------------------------------------- On a personal note, we would all like to wish Oli and Tina many many congratulations on the arrival of their very first child. Skyla was born on Saturday 25th June, mum and baby girl are doing just great. From what I hear Oli is just about surviving and having a well deserved week off with the family. Best Wishes to you all, enjoy yourselves and hope the sleepness nights don't kick in too much! ------------------------------------------------------------ Ron Parker - the legend that is, was at it again this past weekend!! In the medal at Malden, Ron knocked it round in 81 gross! Which happens to be his age and a nice little handicap reduction this year from 21 to 16!! Keep the magic flowing my friend! ------------------------------------------------------------ Congrats Chris Archer on winning the Black Beast Competition at the Oxfordshire Golf CLub recently. Superb effort Chris and now cut to 6 handicap, scratch here we come!! Keep working hard! ------------------------------------------------------------- Once again we congratulate Ron Parker, from Malden Golf Club. On Sunday Ron managed to break his age, shooting a fabulous 79 gross, two under his age. Simple superb effort, I'm just gutted we never hooked up years ago, what could have been? ------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations Tongai on making your first ever birdie!! Even more impressive when you only started playing two weeks ago!! Having never held a club before, we ran Tongai through 6 lessons in two weeks and on the final session hit the course for the first time ever. 3 wood, 8 iron to 12 feet and a single putt on the 6th hole, not bad for a rookie, who said this game is so tough? Keep the good work up! -------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations Ron Parker on winning the Vets Cup at Malden Golf Club. Ron shot a fantastic 44 points and has now seen his handicap cut by 3 shots in 2011, not bad for a man of 79ish!! I would like to add he came back in 3 over gross, now that is a fine effort Sir! --------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations David Paul! Shot 44 points off 8 handicap at Silvermere Golf Club, now cut to 6.2. Good man, keep the good work up and see you soon for another tune up! ---------------------------------------------------------------- "Just when I was contemplating giving up golf completely, because almost every ball drive ended up in the trees on the right-hand side, I had my first lesson with Mark Janes. Within 3 hits Mark had identified the problem, I then saw the problem on video and Mark then cured it. It really was that simple. With Mark's continued help and I support I have maintained the ability to see other areas of the golf course, including the middle of the fairway. I can now look forward to every game of golf and have become confident that my scores will continue to improve and my handicap will soon be reduced. I am torn between recommending Mark highly as a teacher and wanting to keep him all to myself because I know I am more likely to beat anyone who has not experienced a Mark Janes lesson. Jessica Churchley (on the move from 26 handicap)" June 2008 ------------------------------------------------------------------------Ok so just because we attend University, school or classes don't mean we will learn anything. Well that has been very true of my golf tuition spread over 9 years of trying to find out why (I'm sure like many of you) I can't hit that shot I always dream about. Having had lessons from over 20 Professionals I had remained an 18 handicap player with particular flaws in my Iron play. My biggest frustration had been the ever changing techniques from the Nicklaus Flick to the Monty Fade. For the past 14 months I have been attending the Mark Janes Teaching Academy and for me I have found my one true Golf Teaching School. The biggest and most critical aspect for me was the Realistic Assessment and understanding of the journey ahead along with a consistent style and approach. Over the past 3 months I have reduced my handicap to a genuine 14, however the true benefit has been in the level of confidence I feel during play and the knowledge of how to recover when needed. The teaching style is based on building on what is there and introducing grip, stance, alignment and swing fundamentals that allow you to repeat a flowing swing. The practice drills away from the lessons are again extremely simple, beneficial for building muscle memory and can be practiced at home. I continue to enjoy my lessons and now working with Mark on other aspects of the game such the short game and with facilities available it allows for the recreation of a game situations which helps tremendously. If you are trying to find your game, start by taking a look here it's a great starting point and I highly recommend it. John Futuhi Merrist Wood Golf Club May 2008
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been attending Ladies Roll up sessions on a Friday morning for several years now, most of this time Ian Goosey has been my coach. Ian individualizes his lessons to suit your own personal needs, and he had a unique challenge with me as I have polio in my left arm. He never fails to come up with innovative ideas to suit my needs, and finally his patience and perseverance has paid off. This last two weeks I have managed to win three competitions and finally had my handicap cut by two strokes. I would like to thank Ian for his kindness and dedication over the past years, and would recommend him as a true professional coach. Mrs Ann Dighton - Horton Golf Club (August 2010) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I started as a complete novice with a 36 handicap. I was keen to develop my game and fortunately met up with Ian at the Chessington Golf centre. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last Summer, I decided to look for a long term Coach to help me transform my golf, rather than someone to deliver a few quick fix lessons. I've been working with Ian for a year now and have really enjoyed the partnership we've formed as Coach and player. We set stretching targets for handicap improvement at the outset and Ian is making some pretty wholesale changes to my game to deliver those. But despite the challenges you'd expect such changes to bring, we've seen some good results so far, with a couple of Competition wins this year and an improvement of 3-4 shots per round.
