Oli Tucker

Instructor

Golf Professional

BSc SS, Dip S Psy

Oli’s pathway into professional golf is quite unique. As a sportsman with a background in football and cricket it wasn’t till he finished his Sports Science Degree at Brunel University that he began to focus on golf.

His coaching career began at Brentford FC as a UEFA Licensed Centre of Excellence coach. He was then employed as a Coach Development Consultant for Sports Coach UK working with coaches from a variety of sports.

Upon focusing on golf, his natural instincts guided him to junior golf coaching through tri and extreme golf in schools following the completion of his activators workshop.

Oli’s work as a tutor, coach and development consultant has focused on:

FUNdamentals of Movement – Agility, Balance and Coordination (ABCs)

Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) - LTAD provides a model to work from. The LTAD approach was designed to help prepare players to reach elite levels, but is equally valid for a healthy lifelong participation in sport.

Coaching and Learning Environments – Understanding quality coaching and maximising learning by creating the correct learning environment for the individual or group.

As well as leading the junior development programmes at MJGA, Oli also offers lessons for players of all ages and abilities.

Oli is also the Coach Coordinator for The Surrey and Middlesex County Golf Partnerships leading on Coach Education / Development and the County Academy Programme (Junior Academy)

“I feel I have a lot to offer the sport in terms of junior development. As a consultant, I worked with many sports and coaches from grass roots to performance levels. I am relishing the opportunity to use and develop my skills and knowledge in golf.”

“I have worked with a number of golf teachers / professionals and I am delighted to have been given the opportunity at MJGA to work with coaches who are way ahead of the curve in terms of player development.”

“I am a big fan of personal development and I am looking forward to this new challenge as a PGA Professional. My short term goal is to continue to develop the juniors at the club adding my own coaching style alongside the MJGA team.”

“As for the future, you may find me in the summer months on a course on the Croatian coast with my yacht moored at the back of the 18th green!”
